Katie Quinn, LICSW
Founder and Director

Katie Quinn, LICSW, the Founder and Director of ABC Counseling (ABCC), earned her master’s degree in social work from Simmons College in 2008 and since then has devoted her career to understanding the clinical benefits of evidence-based treatment and assessments. Through observation and training in various settings, she has witnessed several differences in patients engaged in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy for mood and behavioral regulation, including reaching treatment outcomes sooner, maintaining treatment commitment longer and fewer therapy interruptions due to inpatient hospitalizations. Katie established ABCC with the goals of creating awareness and early intervention of mental health diagnosis while decreasing stigmatization and isolation surrounding treatment. In service of this vision, ABCC aims to bring clients and families together in group therapy settings to share their experiences, learn skill building and foster connection around shared difficulties.

In 2008, Katie began working with evidence-based models in her role as a clinician and then as the Director of the Intensive Outpatient Program at Laurel Hill Inn Eating Disorder Center. By 2013, she began working at Mclean Hospital’s 3East DBT Programs. Starting off as a Clinical Team Manager at The Mill Street Lodge, she worked with high school aged adolescents to resume academic and independent living skills as a step down from more intensive DBT treatment programs. She later went on to become a Clinical Team Manager and then the Program Director of the 3 East Cambridge Residence, a community-based program for college aged young women. There she utilized DBT in supporting young women to clarify personal goals and values and continue generalizing learned DBT skills. Katie also oversaw the clinical team, ran groups, provided parent support and guidance, and conducted family therapy. Additionally, she provided eating disorder consultation to staff and patients.

Katie is passionate about DBT treatment and has expertise in the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), mood disorders, depression, anxiety, chronic physical illness, suicidal ideation, and self-harm. She is intensively trained in DBT through Behavioral Tech (2013), Motivational Interviewing (MI), DBT Prolonged Exposure protocol for PTSD (DBT-PE) and Radically Open DBT (RO DBT).

Katie is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). She has a special interest in training and supervision and can be made available for consultations. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading, interior design projects and mindfully spending time with her children and her dog, Sophie.
